Locked Out of Your Car? Do These 3 Things.

Oh no! We’ve all been there. We’ve felt that sinking feeling in our stomachs when we had, without thinking, locked our keys in the car. And it always seems to happen at the worst moments: it’s late at night, you’re tired, it’s raining, or… you name it. At Unlock Indy LLC, we’ve seen it all. Fortunately, there’s hope. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things to keep in mind.

What to Do If You're Locked Out of Your Car

1. Stay calm.

No matter what, stay calm. Take some deep breaths and assess the situation. Double-check your pockets or purse. Check to see if the trunk may still be able to be opened (and you may be able to wiggle in through the back). Regardless, make sure your head is in a good space, and that you’re able to make good decisions. If you’re getting anxious, call a friend or family member to help you calm down.

2. Call a locksmith.

The old coat hanger trick doesn’t work well with today’s cars. You need specialized equipment that you’ll only get from a locksmith. Contact Unlock Indy LLC, your go-to car locksmith, at (317) 590-2842 via phone call or text message. We have a car locksmith on call 24/7 who can wave a magic wand (well it’s almost that easy) to unlock any make or model of vehicle.

3. Exercise an ounce of prevention.

It’s easy to get in the habit of locking your car from the door lock. But if you have concerns about accidentally locking your keys in your car, change that behavior to locking your car with your fob instead. That way, you’re highly unlikely to lock the key in the car again.

At Unlock Indy LLC, we’ve been solving lockouts in the Indianapolis area since 2010 with professional car locksmith services. We can also help you with pretty much anything else that needs to be unlocked! If you don’t see the service you’re looking for on our website, call or text us at (317) 590-2842. If we are unable to accommodate your needs, we’ll point you to someone who can. We look forward to serving you.
